Beads: Fashion and Design

Good morning!

So, I watched my DVR recording of Downton Abbey on Monday (and loved it, by the way — what a great start to the season!), and obviously I am always struck by the fashion.  And the interior design.  Everything is over-the-top and completely inspiring, and I love the amount of detail in everything the characters wear, to everything that is sitting inside of the decorated rooms.  Incredible.

I always especially love Mary Crawley’s fashion — and Lady Edith’s is really beautiful, too, with a just-slightly edgy twist in everything she wears.  But I am always, always, always in love with the long beaded necklaces that Mary wears.  I always notice them and find myself wishing for a time-warp so that I could wear a fancy 1920’s dress with beads just like the ones she’s always wearing.

This got me thinking about her many necklaces and the surplus of ways to incorporate beads into your home.  Beads are great for texture and they add a little bit of luxe or whimsy depending on how you use them — just as they can add the same to an outfit.  Although Lady Mary tends to always look luxe, but you get my point.  🙂
