Good morning. 🙂
When it comes to entertaining, I think the simpler you can make things, the better. For everyone. Fussy table settings are not really my cup of tea, and there are plenty of easy things that you can do to elevate a party and to make it feel like, yeah, you put some thought into it, but it’s still effortless; it’s not stuffy, you’re not frazzled, and the prettiness of simplicity really shined. I have two women in my life who have mastered the art of entertaining beautifully and gracefully — my mom, and my mother-in-law. When it comes to me, my husband knows that I can get stressed out because I want everything to be freaking perfect, but I feel like with time and experience this will go by the wayside and I will have an easier time entertaining larger and larger groups. Anyway, here are some simple ideas to make pretty and enjoy.
Love this for a Mother’s Day brunch — rolling up pink paper napkins so that they look like roses, and placing them in a bowl of some kind with some greenery.
This is brilliant. I have also seen this done with cucumbers.
The thought process is simple here — anytime beverages are served this way, it’s beautiful. End of story. These are super easy to find (HomeGoods, Costco, etc., or if you really want to get your fancypants on, places like Horchow).
Make those veggies pretty. The first image I have shared on the blog before — my mother-in-law opted out of the veggie tray and into the veggie urn. So pretty. And the bottom image — a beautiful table centerpiece that could also double as a snack. Later, though. After everyone goes home. Because you might ruin the centerpiece, otherwise.
And speaking of urns… (I love them)… how about this idea? Fill with ice and pile in the beverages.
Also a great idea — freeze fruit on cocktail skewers, then let guests select their favorite and not only will it look pretty, it’ll keep the drink cold for a little longer, too.
