Weekend Wrap-Up / Sweet Salvage

Hey, guys.  Happy Tuesday!  🙂

Last week was super busy and Thursday brought on a work-day that didn’t end until after 11 PM.  This weekend was all about catching up on some self-care…  I did sneak away to Sweet Salvage and picked up a couple of treats that will be helpful for decorating for Spring in a couple of weeks.  I took Valentine’s Day down last week and I ordered an awesome wreath that came in the mail — one that will work for the next several months.  I will share about that soon.

This Sweet Salvage show was called ‘Rustic Luxe’ and I think they pretty much nailed it.  Lots of glam touches with rustic treasures.  It’s also so fun to see little pops of greenery everywhere — a promise that Spring is on the horizon!

Kuma’s weekend was full of lounging around outside on his new cushion and going for a little outing to Dutch Bros. where he enjoys the occasional pup cup.  😉

My hubby surprised me with these beautiful flowers on Valentine’s Day.  I was so excited!  I love tulips, and roses are just an all-around great Valentine’s Day flower.  🙂

He also bought me this shirt, and I seriously love it.  It’s super soft and the fit is great.  But besides that, it sends a really positive message to my heart.  I always try to do my best.  But my best looks different from day to day.  Sometimes my best is completely rocking it at work and getting everything crossed off my to-do list, making a healthy dinner, getting to bed early, and drinking plenty of water!  Other days, my best is getting out of bed and taking a shower.  Those are my off days, and we all have plenty of those.  But this shirt helps me to remind myself that after a great or hard day, I did my best all the same.

There is an amazing faux flower store in Scottsdale that we frequent for client needs and I am obsessed with the aisles upon aisles of every type of flower you can think of (and every one you can’t think of!).  It’s an inspiring place and all that is missing from a real flower shop is the smell.  🙂

I also popped into West Elm for some work-related things and it was nice to wander around that store again.  I haven’t been in a long time but they had some really cool stuff for Spring and also plenty of greenery to make me smile!

I hope you all have a great rest of your day!

Easy DIY Valentine’s Day Wreath

Hey, friends!  I hope you’re enjoying your Wednesday.  I’m already looking forward to the weekend!  😉

Easy DIY Valentine's Day Wreath {Details Blog}

I thought I would hop on here and share our Valentine’s Day wreath.  This is the same one that I shared last year and it held up really well.  I stored it in a garbage bag in the garage and it was a-okay when I took it out this season.

This wreath really could not be simpler.  It’s just a grapevine wreath that you can purchase at any craft store, some fake flowers, pearl sprigs, and a banner.  I think I bought everything at JoAnn’s.

Easy DIY Valentine's Day Wreath {Details Blog}

Usually when I make wreaths, I make them with a grapevine wreath as my base.  It’s just too easy.  Cut all of your blooms and stick ’em in.  I thought the pearl sprigs were a fun little touch.  The green leaves came from the flowers — I just stuffed the bottoms in the wreath.  I did that second-to-last.  The last step was the banner — and I cut off a section, then tied it on the wreath.  Over the past year I have used the rest of the banner for gift tags or table decor.

I must admit that inside our house, there’s not much Valentine’s Day decor to be seen.  I have even taken a little centerpiece down already because I kept knocking it over and it was bugging me, lol!  Just a few garlands here and there, but maybe I’ll take a few pictures to share…

Have a great rest of your day!

Pantone 2018 Color of the Year: Ultra Violet

Hey, guys!  Happy Tuesday!  🙂  I hope you’re in the midst of a beautiful and productive week.

I always look forward to blogging about the Pantone Color of the Year.  It’s a little something I wait for in December.  How about you?  I like being introduced to the color, reading up on it, and then looking out for it!  It’s kind of fun bein’ on the hunt.  😉

I have to admit that this year’s color took a little bit of time for me to warm up to it.  It reminded me so much of a cartoon-y purple and I was a little bit disappointed.

In preparation for this post, I read up on it and the energy put forth behind this color is really awesome.  We’re in a time when we need all the positivity we can get!  And the fact that this color is a color of hope and promise?  I kind of love that.

We’re in luck with this color, too — purple goes with everything!  It’s a universal color, lending itself to whatever else you have in a room.

Ultra violet is all about vibrancy.  I think that is what I do really like about it.  It’s not a flat color — it’s dimensional and full of life.  Slightly neon maybe?

It can also be muted, like these chairs.  They’re still punchy, but they’re a little on the subdued side.

Blues look exceptionally pretty with ultra violet, too.  I love the mix of shades of all of the colors in this living space.  It’s simply a blue and purple color palette thrown a bunch of different ways!  Green is the secret BFF of any purple, though.  They’re always buddies.

I’m sure you’re on the edge of your seat wondering if ultra violet has found its way into fashion and that answer would be yes!  😉  Admittedly, my daily wardrobe borderlines more with faSHUN than fashion, but here’s some fun eye candy…

Sweet Salvage: Green Acres

Hey, there!  🙂  This past weekend I headed out to another Sweet Salvage market, this one titled Green Acres.  And there was plenty of green to be seen.  😉  Lots of pretty plants everywhere and even some green treasures.

Hallway Jewelry

Hey there, friends!  Here’s hoping your week is off to a great start.  🙂

In our quest to get rid of all of the boob lights in our house, we had to keep the momentum goin’ in the hallway.  For Christmas, we received two lanterns that I had selected for this space, and I am so excited about they way that they look!

Hallway Jewelry {Details Blog}

It’s little updates like these that just make my heart sing.  These were not super expensive and they give off such pretty light.  The bulbs are Edison-style and I’m thrilled with them.  These were the trickiest of our new lights to hang but after Greyson did one, the second one was up in about forty minutes or so.

Hallway Jewelry {Details Blog}

I love knowing that someday someone is going to buy our house and they are going to have all new stylish lights inside!  And at the same time I am so happy that when we moved in, all of our lighting was builder grade so I have updated everything based on our own tastes.  So far we have donated all of the old lighting/ceiling fan.  We still have two more ceiling fans to update at some point and I may just put in the same one that we have in our living room because I love it so much.  🙂

The morning that I took these photos, I had to take advantage of the gorgeous light that was streaming in through our windows and take some pictures of this sweet boy.  This is his lil perch that he loves by the door leading to the backyard — he is either outside or inside sunbathing at all times during the week.  😉

Little Updates — Happy New Year!

Hey guys, Happy New Year!  And long time no see.  😉

As it is for everyone, the holiday season was crazy for us.  I wish I would have had time to post about our Christmas decor, let alone take photos of it!  It was really pretty.  But alas, I was too busy enjoying the season and way too busy with work to worry about it.  Next year.  😉

The end of the year had me working so hard with the owner of the design firm that I work for on finishing a GIANT project that we are super proud of.  Essentially it is a very large house that we furnished entirely.  Next we are working on all of the accessories, so that should be exciting.  Then, unfortunately, two days before Christmas our sweet pup Kuma was attacked by a dog in our front yard and we spent the next ten days watching him really carefully while he healed.  Poor little guy — it was super traumatic for us all.  Kind of a crappy end to the Christmas season as we weren’t able to be fully present — too worried!  I was happy to take down the decorations, which we did on the 1st.  It felt good — cleansing.

P1020283

Everything feels super fresh in our house right now and I’m looking forward to hunkering down, not spending any money on decor or anything for a while, organizing, cleaning, etc.  We got some new lighting for the house for Christmas, though!  Greyson was very busy around the house for a few days.  😉  Seen here is our new ceiling fan.  It’s really powerful, completely noiseless, and has an LED light kit that it runs off of that does not provide icky cold light.  I was really worried about it when I saw that it was going to be LED but the light is great.  It runs off of a remote, too — love that — no dumb chain!

P1020284

See our new flush-mount light in the entry, too?  I was SO excited to get rid of the dreaded boob light that we have had there for the past year.

P1020293

This little light is so pretty at night — the light is warm and inviting.  I opted for the round bulbs rather than the candelabra bulbs for a more modern look.

P1020288

I love this room.  I do have some ideas up my sleeve of how to kind of refresh it, which I will share in the coming weeks.  It won’t start happening for some time, though.  We’re taking the next few months to not spend at all and save our money — we do have some trips coming up this Summer, after all!  😉  But essentially I have access to a bunch of trade furniture sites and I want to replace some things in our rooms with a bit nicer quality furnishings.  Really just the accent pieces.  All in good time.

P1020304

This was the first time I got to style this table for everyday use since we purchased it last Summer.  We decked it out for Fall right away last year!

I was ready to simplify our coffee table for now, so this little arrangement came to live here.  I did switch out the lucite tray for one of my Gramma’s beautiful silver trays that I inherited.  And I got another fancy Diptyque candle for Christmas — smells so good!

P1020273

One thing that I do make sure and budget for in the ‘Spring’ months (I know we’re kind of pre-Spring right now), is fresh flowers.  Tulips are my favorite — this bunch was callin’ my name!

Super Simple DIY Christmas Wreath

Hi, there!  Happy Monday.  🙂

Our house is all decked out for Christmas and we finally got our lights up, too!  That was an adventure…  😉  It included a pretty late night and two separate trips to Walmart…not my favorite store but ya gotta do what ya gotta do!

I wanted to share a really simple wreath that Grey and I put together for our front door.  Last year when we moved in, we were already in the midst of Holiday season so I just purchased a fresh wreath from Trader Joe’s.  It obviously smelled amazing and I really liked having something alive on our door, so I thought I would do the same thing again this year.

The one thing we added was this little sled from the Target Dollar Spot…I think it was $3.  All we did was wire it in with some floral wire, and when I say ‘we’ I really mean my hubby because I lose my patience fast with these kinds of things.  😉

I thought about adding lights or some ornaments, but I actually really like how simple it is.  It’s just cute.  So far so good — we have hardly lost any needles and we’ve had this up for a few weeks now.  Grey spritzes it with water every morning or so and it’s doin’ well!

Do you have a wreath up on your door for the season?  What does it look like?

A Belated Family Thanksgiving

Hi, friends!  Happy Friday.  🙂

I know that most of us are well on our way to Christmas, but I couldn’t go without sharing about our belated family Thanksgiving celebration at my parents’ house.  We had a great time, and we even capped off the night by decorating their Christmas tree together.  🙂

This is the tablescape that I came up with.  The stick runner is an oldie from Target but it comes in handy this time of year!  You’ll recognize those pumpkins from around our house.  😉 I brought them over for the table.  The sunflowers were a gift from my brother’s girlfriend to my momma.

Those napkin rings are also from years ago — they’re from Pottery Barn.  I love them and I usually only use them once or twice this time of year but I’m always thankful that I have them.

Our 2017 Fall Decor

Hey, guys!  I hope you’re having a great week so far!  This is a busy one for me work-wise so I’m writing to you late tonight.  😉

How was your Thanksgiving?  We spent the whole long weekend with our families and we put up our Christmas decor together, which was so much fun.  It took a full 12 hours but it was worth it — as Grey puts it, our house looks like a Winter Wonderland – ha!

I realized I never shared my Fall decor, so this post has some photos that I snapped.  Also, when we had a late Thanksgiving celebration at my parents’ house on Sunday I created a fun tablescape so I still have that to share, too.  All kinds of Fall stuff, even though a lot of us are already well on our way to Christmas…

Our 2017 Fall Decor {Details Blog}

I was inspired by a floral arrangement during our stay at The Inn at 410 so that is kind of what I modeled mine after.  This was not easy!  I am kind of a perfectionist and if I’m being honest, I didn’t *love* how this turned out, but at some point I just had to look at it and say, “That’ll do, pig.”  (From Babe, duh).

I purchased a couple of these plush pumpkins and they were from the Target Dollar Spot.  I just stuffed this one into the apothecary jar and sprinkled some pumpkin vase filler around like confetti.  😉

This display I loved to look at and loved to create.  The pinecones are all from our trip to Tahoe over the summer and they.are.huge!  I baked them to help them let go of some of the extra sap they were holding onto and my house smelled amazing that night.  The tray that this is sitting on top of is one of my Gramma’s beautiful silver pieces that I have inherited.  I was so excited to use it for this vignette.

Our 2017 Fall Decor {Details Blog}

On our kitchen table, I layered a bunch!  One of my Gramma’s silver trays on the bottom, an oval grapevine wreath, and then a soup server that I snagged from the giveaway pile at my in-laws’ house.  I had this in mind as soon as I saw it so I had to have it!

Of course I have to show you one of our contributions for Thanksgiving dinner — this amazing pie that is a bit of a labor of love, but ridiculously worth it.  Grey made most of it — I just directed him.  So worth the time it takes to make it — and worth the calories!  😉

Place of My Taste

Usually I make ’em myself, but this Fall I ran out of time and I wanted to get my Halloween wreath off my door by November 1st.  So I had about a 24-hour window — ha!  I found a decent one at Hobby Lobby for 50% off that I added some foliage to as well as some pumpkins… I can never leave those store-bought wreaths alone — they always feel like they’re missing something to me!

This is actually the wreath I wanted to make, but can you believe I went to the Dollar Store and they had already put all of their Fall stuff away?  Hobby Lobby leaves were a little too pricey for me so that’s what brought me purchase an already-made wreath.  But I was so bummed!  Fall stuff put away…and it’s Fall?!
